Taiheiyo Cement Philippines retires old kiln to prepare expansion

Taiheiyo Cement Philippines has retired its old kiln to make way for the installation of its new line, which will increase capacity from 2500tpd of clinker to 6000tpd by mid-2024. The old kiln has been operational for 30 years, according to Yoshihito Izawa, CEO. “Now we have decided to build a new line. Taiheiyo Cement is planning to invest PHP15bn (US$309.3m) to expand production at its plant in Cebu, Philippines. Bulk carrier MV Belle Rose was refloated last week having run aground on Monad Shoal off the Philippines, the Manila Bulletin reports. Environmental activists have called on the ship’s owners to bear the cost of repairing the environmental damage caused when the ship struck the reef, which is a popular tourist destination.
